Volgens KB-artikel 905231, heeft SharePoint zeer specifieke tekens gereserveerd die ongeldig zijn voor gebruik in site namen, subsitenamen, groepsnamen , foldernamen en documentnamen. Dit wordt vaak over het hoofd gezien door de SharePoint-gebruikers. Ik vermoed dat veel eindgebruikers zich niet eens bewust van deze informatie. Hoe kunnen gebruikers hiervan bewust zijn wanneer SharePoint gebruikers toestaan om inhoud aan te maken die deze ongeldige tekens bevatten?

Please ensure that you and your fellow SharePoint users are aware of the following invalid characters:

• Site Names
  • Do not use the following: | # { } % & ” ~ + \ / : * ? ”
  • Do not start a site name, subsite name, or a site group name with an underscore (_) or with the period character.
  • I recommend that you do not use an underscore or a period.  While it is possible, there are some caveats, such as:
    • You cannot use the period character consecutively in the middle of a site name
    • You cannot use the period character at the end of a site name
• Folder Names and File Names
  • Do not use: ” # % & * : ? \ / { | } ~
  • File names cannot be longer than 128 characters
  • Do not use the period character consecutively in the middle of a file name.  For example, “file..name.docx” is invalid.
  • You cannot use the period character at the end of a file name
  • You cannot start a file name with the period character
